Former Press Secretary and now Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Ignacio R. Bunye and Governor Arnan C. Panaligan formally led the inauguration of the newly constructed passenger terminal building at the port of Calapan City last June 12, 2008.
The P45 M passenger terminal building, which has a 552 seating-capacity and equipped with modern facilities, is one of the major infrastructure projects of the Philippine Ports Authority in the Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH).
In his message, Governor Panaligan stressed that the project is not only a major development component of SRNH but also a major boost to the development efforts of the province of Oriental Mindoro.
Governor Panaligan added that there are now plans for the expansion of the Calapan City port worth P200 M which will include the construction of finger ports to accommodate even large international shipping vessels.
The multi-million peso passenger terminal building is expected to serve not only the people of Oriental Mindoro but also the passengers traversing the SRNH.
