Oriental Mindoro hosts RDC Special Full Council Meeting
"Kabayan" Noli presides
Oriental Mindoro hosted the special full
council meeting of the MIMAROPA Regional Development Council last June
19, 2008 at the Filipiniana Resort Hotel, Calapan City. Vice-President
Noli De Castro, as the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development (CORD)
of MIMAROPA, presided over the meeting.
Government leaders from the different provinces in the region, led
by Oriental Mindoro Governor Arnan C. Panaligan, Occidental Governor Josephine R. Sato
and Romblon Governor Natalio F. Beltran III, with officials and representatives of various
regional line agencies, discussed the development goals and significant issues concerning
their provinces and the region as a whole.
Governors
Panaligan and Sato reiterated their unwavering stand against mining
activities within their territorial jurisdictions. Environmental
concerns and social acceptability were again stressed as strong grounds
for their continuous opposition.
